This national organization is a network of community women active in all of the Senegalese administrative regions providing care to the most vulnerable in their communities. Very often, along with providing psychosocial and socio-economic support, these activists also play the role of community health workers.
In these photos, the community workers in Bargny, a densely populated area in the outskirts of Dakar, prepare a mix for newborns suffering from malnutrition. This mix is milled from local grains, packaged, and distributed to families in need. This activity is organized on the premises of the community health centre and is supported by the Association of Community Health Workers of Senegal. El Hadji Baytir Samba, the President of this association, actively participates in such activities to discuss solutions to arising or persisting community challenges and to train community workers in health promotion.
